You can choose to calculate usage reduction from categorized usage or total usage.  All energy efficiency equipment can only apply to one type of reduction.

  • Total usage is a % reduction from the overall usage, applied evenly over each month and each hour.
  • Categorized usage uses government EIA data on typical household loads to intelligently apply a % reduction to the portion of the load attributed to that item type.
  • If you switch the way reduction is calculated, make sure to change the Reduction Amount % below - it should be smaller for total usage and larger for categorized usage.
  • Also keep in mind that certain EE equipment can only apply to total usage. In the case that you've selected Categorized Usage, then only EE types that support this methodology will show in the dropdown menu.  In the case that you've selected Total Usage, all EE types in your account will be available.
    • An example is the EE type "Package": this can only be calculated based on Total Usage, so it will only show up as an option when Total Usage is selected.
    • Please keep in mind, that you must have EE equipment setup in your Project Phase settings for anything to show up in this section.
