How can I void or cancel an agreement I've already sent out for signature?

You may run into cases where you send out an agreement for electronic signature but then realize you need to make a change after you've sent it. Maybe you sent an agreement for the wrong quote, maybe the customer information was wrong, or maybe some time has elapsed and you've made changes to the project design on an un-signed deal.

Whatever the case, you're able to void agreements and contracts that are out for signature. Read more to learn how it works.

Voiding Agreements

The Contract phase will show an option to void on the top right side of the page. This is grayed out on the onset, but once a quote is added and a contract sent out for sigining, it turns blue.

Please note that you can't void documents have have already been signed and completed.

What happens after voiding a contract?

Once you click on the Void button, The contract status will be change to Voided, Status will be switched to Not Started (from Sent as seen on the screenshot above), and the Void button will be grayed out again.

Once you see these, you've effectively cancelled this version of the contract. You'll be able to re-send the same agreement or new agreement associated with a different quote. Changes to project information and customer information can be made before or after voiding the agreement, just make sure to make any needed changes before sending an agreement again.

What e-sign emails will the customer see?

When you first send the agreement via e-sign, the customer gets an email from DocuSign.

They may go to the e-sign document without finishing the signature process. An example of an e-sign document is shown below.

If you void the agreement, they receive a new email letting them know the document has been voided and they are unable to sign the old document.

Here is an example of the email indicating that the document has been voided:

If they try to go to the sign document link in the old email, they see that the document has been voided:

The customer will be able to sign any new (unvoided) agreements that are sent out. That wraps up our overview of agreement voiding!

Voiding Agreements

Voiding an agreement means that the agreement previously sent out can no longer be e-signed by any of the recipients and any existing signatures are disregarded.
