How to Retrieve Detailed Monthly Charges from Genability

Genability is the industry standard in utility rate data and process very complex calculations for customer's usage.  Sometimes customers do not understand why the post solar utility is higher than expected.  Giving a detailed monthly charge can really help a customer understand the monthly costs and help quell their concerns. 

Login to Genability

• Login to Genability (credentials are in LastPass)

Go to the Site Dashboard

• See instructions here.

Open Genability Request in Postman

• Open monthly bill request.  (This will be sent via a Postman link)

Retrieve the Tariff and Profile ID from Genability

• Click on the arrows in the top right corner

• Find the Master Tariff and Profile ID's from Genability's dashboard

Update the Post

• Enter the site uuid from Sighten (1 in image below)
• Enter the master tariff ID, retrieved in the step above (2 in image below)
• Update the dates for the specific month you are looking into (3 & 4 in image below)
• Enter the profile ID, retrieved in the step above (5 in image below.)

Copy 'Items' Information in Response

• In the response, scroll to "Items". Copy all information until "Assumptions"

• Convert the file into a CSV using a JSON to CSV coverter.  You can use the one here.

• Copy the results
• Open a new Google Sheet
• Copy the results into the Google Sheet and select detect automatically on split text to columns
• Now, you can see the monthly charges.  You can either use this to explain the bill to the customer or you can pass this information to the customer directly.  The rate name lists the specific charge and the cost lists the costs associated with the charges.  It should look something like this.
